The Topeka Active 20-30 Club is an organization comprised of 65 of the leading business professionals from the Topeka community, ages 20 to 39 years old. We enjoy an outstanding reputation in our community and are active in numerous charitable and community events. The origins of the Topeka chapter of Active 20-30 reach back to 1957, when the club was founded on the sound principles of "developing, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship, and to provide a practical means of forming enduring friendships, of rendering altruistic service, and of building better communities". Through various fundraising efforts since 1965, the Topeka Active 20-30 Club has donated in excess of $800,000 to various Topeka children’s charities. The Club was an integral part in the founding of the Friends of the Topeka Zoo program, and has continued to support Gage Park and the Zoo with the purchase of the Gage Park Carousel organ and playground equipment. The Club has a history of making large one-time donations for worthy causes. Some recent recipients include Sunflower Soccer, The Capper Foundation, Hughes Barrier-Free Park, and the Kansas Children's Museum. In years past, the club sponsored the National AAU swimming meet (an Olympic qualifying event), the Missouri Valley AAU Basketball Tournament, and for 16 years, the National Men's AAU Basketball Tournament. In 1999, the focus was shifted to our Children's Charity Gala, a formal evening dinner, dance, and auction benefiting deserving children's charities. Our Fourth Annual Children's Charity Gala is August 10, 2002. This event has raised over $200,000 annually in it's first 3 years to support our charitable contributions to local children's groups.
